The first time participants answer a survey in a class, they are asked to report their gender identity and to report all of the racial and ethnic groups with which they identify. These fine-grained response categories help participants select at least one option that closely matches their self-identification and lived experience. However, it would be impossible to maintain participant confidentiality while reporting data by each fine-grained category by which participants self-identify. Therefore, reports disaggregate data by race-ethnicity group and by gender identity group.
Ascend also disaggregates results by financial stress, while Catalyze and Elevate enable educators to create a custom Focal Group.
