How can I prepare teachers to implement Elevate?

Elevate implementation is much more impactful when teachers are supported to engage in a robust process with students. Because teacher needs can vary broadly, it’s important to partner with teachers to understand how to support them. In this article, individuals who have supported teachers throughout their Elevate implementation share their insights and best practices.

A. Jessica Bunzol, Instructional Coach at Network for College Success, Creating “Sacred Space” for Teachers

It can be difficult for teachers to receive and analyze student data about their classroom. It requires vulnerability, trust, and, according to Jessica, “sacred space” to get the work done. In this video, Jessica Bunzol, Instructional Coach at Network for College Success, asserts that teachers need protected time to implement Elevate, and, more importantly, they need to experience the environment they’re aiming to cultivate for students. B. Rachel Banas, Principal at West Buffalo Charter School, Establishing Trust with Teachers
Rachel Banas, Principal at West Buffalo Charter School, partners with teachers to implement Elevate and encourages them to partner with students throughout the process. In this video, Rachel shares how she mitigates teachers’ evaluation anxiety, celebrates teachers, and collaborates with teachers to co-design their Elevate implementation. C. Coaches Corner: Making Meaning of the Learning Conditions
Rachel Banas, Principal at West Buffalo Charter School, and Jessica Bunzol, Instructional Coach at Network for College Success, share how teachers partnered with students to align on the meaning and relevance of learning conditions. Jessica describes how alignment, and resiliency, is necessary to design impactful practice changes.
