The first time participants answer a survey in a class, they are asked to report their gender identity and all of the racial and ethnic groups with which they identify. These fine-grained response categories help participants select at least one option that closely matches their self-identification and lived experience. Reports then disaggregate data by race-ethnicity group and by gender identity group.
